quote from website:
"It comes with sophisticated built-in junk mail filtering that uses
adaptive latent semantic analysis to identify and nail junk mail
messages and simple controls you need to train it to agree with your
view of what's junk and what's not - like the Junk button in the
Toolbar that lets you so label any messages you choose, and the Not
Junk override that appears on any message either you or the built-in
filter labeled. "
* Platform (Wintel, *nix, both)
Apple / Mac OS X
* Freeware/shareware/paid product
Included with Mac OS X
* How does it function? (Does it rely on external blacklists a la
ORDB, manually-created black/grey/whitelists, MTA blocking, keyword
filtering, etc.)
Uses adaptive latent semantic analysis. Can be "trained" to improve
accuracy.
* What is its administrative model? (Centrally administered with
Opt-in/Opt-out functionality, fully end-user-administered, etc.)
Client software that can be configured through software menus
* What options does it provide for disposition of SPAM, once it's been
identified? (Deletion, pre-pending "SPAM!" to the subject
line,
generating an NDR, etc.)
highlight within inbox or move to "Junk" folder.
* Ease of administration, server-side. (Installation, sysadmin
maintenance, system resources required, etc.)
does not require any server-side software
* Ease of use, end-user-side. (Ease of configuration, "learning"
to
recognize SPAM, etc.)
easy buttons to mark messages as "Junk" or "Not Junk"
* Effectiveness (false positives, misses, etc.)
i've been using this software for about 7 months. i've found that it
does properly identify the majority of spam, but it also has a tendency
to have a lot of false positives.
* Overall impressions & notes
Nice software, easy to use. Effectiveness needs to improve.
