Smartphone Email Clients - Spring 2006
This product/technology evaluation team will test smartphone based client/server email clients for the three major smartphone platforms (Blackberry, Palm OS, and PocketPC) for compatibility and useful functionality with the University's email servers.
Specific deliverables will include contextual advice on whether to proceed with integrated/included or third-party email clients, along with vendor-specific considerations. Other deliverables will include precise configuration instructions for all three smartphone platforms with representative University email servers. Also included in this evaluation will be best practices for handling large amounts of email on a smartphone, a discussion of what user populations can use smartphone email effectively, and documentation of smartphone-specific email security considerations. Finally, any troubleshooting information gleaned during this evaluation will be captured.
