Challenge Eleven: CSF Subsidy for Lab Machines

• Goal

  • To provide a subsidized CSF for computers that do not use the bundle of CSF services, but only use the network to connect lab instruments or dedicated computers.

• Current Status

  • Request came from SOM.
  • Strong desire to conform to current standards and reduce private LANs.

• Costs

  • Not sure. 1400 connections could exceed $150k in FY2003.
