Wireless Infrastructure (Continued)
Costs and Sources of Funding:
- Depends greatly on the model. Wireless could be rolled out on behalf of individual groups, or could be deployed in a larger way as a separate fee-based cost recovery service.
- Typical deployment costs: $2000-$3000 per access point, serving up to about 25 people within 200 feet. Typical cost for reasonable coverage in a Penn building might be between $25,000 and $75,000 depending on a number of parameters.
- A thorough design for a complete campus network might involve an expert outside design company, adding to the cost.
