How to Configure FileZilla
2.2.32 for Kerberos (Windows XP/Vista)
When you install FileZilla from the PennConnect
CD or download it from the Supported Products
site, it has already been configured to FTP to Penn's server, origin.www.upenn.edu.
If, however, you want to FTP to other servers, you can use the instructions
below to add the new FTP site, then configure that site for the Kerberos
environment.

How to configure a new Kerberos-enabled FTP site
- Start FileZilla 2.2.32 (Start → All Programs → FileZilla
→ FileZilla
2.2.32). The main window displays.
- From the Edit menu, select Settings... .The FileZilla
Options window displays.
- Scroll down the left panel of the FileZilla Options window and under the
Connection heading, select GSS support. The GSS support window displays.
If you do not see GSS support, click the plus + sign to the left of Connection
to expand the menu.
- In the GSS support window, click the Enable Kerberos GSS
support checkbox.
- In the blank field directly in front of sentence that begins "For
each server. . .," type the name of the server,
then click the Add button (For example, type upenn.edu).
The name of the server that you entererd will now appear beneath the
Under GSS enabled servers section.
- Click OK.
- From the File menu, select Site Manager...
. The File window displays.
- Click the New Site button in the bottom left of the window.
A New FTP site icon appears beneath the My FTP Sites
folder icon.
- In place of the displayed words New FTP site, type a descriptive
name for your new FTP site profile (e.g., pobox FTP).
- Click in the Host: field, then type the actual
host name of the new FTP site (e.g., pobox.upenn.edu).
Note: If configuring access for www.upenn.edu, enter origin.www.upenn.edu
in the Host field.)
- Beneath Logontype, ensure the Anonymous radio button is
selected.
- Click the Save and Exit button at the bottom right of the
window. You have successfully created an FTP site profile.
- Only if you have installed the Leash32 alternate configuration installer
(see notes above), from the Edit menu, select Settings.... The FileZilla Options window displays.
- In the left panel beneath Connection, click on Firewall
Settings,
then check the Passive Mode checkbox on the right. If you do not see the
Connection setting, click the + sign to expand the menu.
