How To Configure Entourage 2004 For Exchange (Mac OS 10.5.x/10.5.x)
This document provides instructions for configuring Microsoft Entourage 2004 for use with Microsoft Exchange-based email and calendaring.
Entourage 2004 is one of several email clients in use on campus and is not supported by all Schools and Centers. For the recommended email client you should use, see Email Specifications by School or ask your Local Support Provider (LSP).
Important note: you must update Office 2004 prior to configuring Entourage. The Entourage version number should be 11.3.6 or above.
- Launch Entourage 2004. If Entourage has not been previously used, a dialog box will ask if you would like to make Microsoft Entourage your default email program. If Entourage has been previously used, go to step 4.
- Click the Cancel or Make Default buttons to match your preference. The Welcome screen of Entourage Setup Assistant will appear.
- Select the I want to start using Entourage without importing anything. radio button and click the right arrow. The Set up a Mail Account dialog will appear. Go to step 7.
- Go to Tools > Accounts
- Click the Exchange button.
- Click the New button. The Set up a Mail Account dialog will appear.
- Enable the My account is on an Exchange server checkbox.
- In the E-mail address: field, enter your full Exchange email address, i.e. username@exchange.upenn.edu
- Click the right-arrow to continue. The Automatic Configuration Failed screen will appear.
- Click the right-arrow to continue. The Verify and Complete Settings screen will appear.
- In the Your Name: field, enter your name as you wish it appear on outgoing messages.
- In the E-mail address: field, verify that your full Exchange email address is present, i.e. username@exchange.upenn.edu
- In the Account ID: field, verify that your email name is present, i.e. username
- In the Password: field, enter your email password.
- In the Domain: field, enter kite
- In the Exchange server field, enter outlook.exchange.upenn.edu
- Enable the Use SSL for these servers checkbox.
- Click the right-arrow to continue. The Optional: Verify Settings screen will appear.
- Click the right-arrow to continue. A dialog box will ask if you want to verify your account settings.
- Click the Skip button. The Setup Complete screen will appear.
- In the Account name: field, enter ISC Exchange
You may enable the Add this new e-mail address to your "Me" contact checkbox if you want to include this email address in Entourage's contact information.
- Click the Finish button. The Exchange environment will begin to load. Depending on how much mail, contacts, and calendar items are in your ISC Exchange account, this may take a while.
Enabling LDAP in Entourage 2004
To use Entourage 2004 with the Penn Online Directory, you must enable LDAP.
- Go to Tools > Accounts
- Click the Directory tab.
- Click the New button. The Edit Account dialog will appear.
- In the Account name: field, enter Penn Online Directory
- In the LDAP server: field, enter directory.upenn.edu
- Enable the This server requires me to log on checkbox.
- In the Account ID: field, enter uid=username, ou=PennPeople, dc=upenn, dc=edu, where username is your actual PennKey name.
- In the Password: field, enter your PennKey password.
- Click the Click here for advanced options button.
- Enable the This LDAP server requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox.
- Click the Options button.
- In the Search base: field, enter ou=PennPeople, dc=upenn, dc=edu
- Click the OK button.
- Close the Accounts dialog.
Enabling the Exchange Global Address List (GAL) & Public Folders in Entourage 2004
Important note: many of Entourage 2004's groupware features do not work well or at all if the Exchange Global Address List (GAL) and public folders are not enabled.
- Go to Tools > Accounts
- Click the Mail tab.
- Click the ISC Exchange account entry.
- Click the Edit button. The Edit Account dialog will appear.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- In the Public folders server: field enter outlook.exchange.upenn.edu/public
- Ensure that the This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox is enabled.
- In the LDAP server: field enter gal.exchange.upenn.edu
- Enable the This server requires me to log on checkbox.
- Enable the This LDAP server requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox
- Ensure that the Override default LDAP port: checkbox is not enabled.
- Ensure that the Search base: field is empty.
- Click the OK button.
- Close the Accounts dialog.
