How To Configure Entourage 2008 For Exchange (Mac OS 10.5.8/10.6.x/10.7)
This document provides instructions for configuring Microsoft Entourage 2008 for use with Microsoft Exchange-based email and calendaring.
Entourage 2008 is one of several email clients in use on campus and is not supported by all Schools and Centers. For the recommended email client that you should use, see Email Specifications by School or ask your Local Support Provider (LSP).
Important note: you must update Office 2008 via Microsoft AutoUpdate and also install Entourage Web Services prior to configuring Entourage. The Entourage version number should be 13.1.0 or above.
- Launch Entourage 2008.
- If no component application of Office 2008 has previously been used, the Microsoft Office Setup Assistant opens and asks you to create an Office identity. Go to step 2
- If other component applications of Office 2008 have previously been used, but Entourage has not, go to step 10
- If Entourage has been previously used, go to step 7
- In the First name: field, enter your first name. You may enter other optional information.
- Click the Continue button. The Setting Up Office dialog box appears.
- Click the Continue button. The Customer Experience Improvement Program dialog box appears.
- Click the Continue button. The Get Started dialog box appears.
- Click the Finish button. The Microsoft Office Setup Assistant closes and Entourage opens. Go to step 10
- Click the New ... button. The New Identity dialog box appears.
- In the Identity name: field, enter ISC Exchange
- Click the OK button. The Entourage Inbox loads with a welcome message and the Entourage Setup Assistant appears.
- Select the Start using Entourage without importing anything radio button and click the right arrow. The Set Up a Mail Account dialog appears. Go to step 13.
- Go to Tools > Accounts... The Accounts dialog appears.
- Click the New button. The Set up a Mail Account dialog appears.
- Enable the My account is on an Exchange server checkbox.
- In the E-mail address: field, enter your full Exchange email address, i.e. username@exchange.upenn.edu
- Click the right-arrow to continue. The Account Information dialog appears.
- In the Domain: field, enter kite
- In the Account ID: field, enter your username
- In the Password: field, enter your email password.
- Enable the Save password in my Mac OS keychain checkbox.
- Click the OK button. The Automatic Configuration Succeeded dialog appears.
- Click the right-arrow to continue. The Verify and Complete Settings screen appears.
- Click the right-arrow to continue. A dialog box will ask if you want to verify your account settings.
- Click the Skip button. The Setup Complete screen will appear.
- In the Account name: field, enter ISC Exchange
You may enable the Add this new e-mail address to your "Me" contact checkbox if you want to include this email address in Entourage's contact information.
- Click the Finish button. Entourage may ask if you would like to make it your default email program.
- Click the No or Make Default buttons as appropriate. The Exchange environment will begin to load. Depending on how much mail, contacts, and calendar items are in your ISC Exchange account, this may take a while.
- Go to Tools > Accounts... The Accounts dialog appears.
- Click the Mail tab.
- Double-click the ISC Exchange selection. The Edit Account window appears.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Enable the This LDAP server requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox.
- Click the OK button.
- Close the Accounts dialog.
Enabling LDAP in Entourage 2008
To use Entourage 2008 with the Penn Online Directory, you must enable LDAP.
- Go to Tools > Accounts... The Accounts dialog appears.
- Click the Directory Service tab.
- Click the New button. The Account Setup Assistant window appears.
- Click the Configure Account Manually button. The Edit Account window appears.
- In the Account name: field, enter Penn Online Directory
- In the LDAP server: field, enter directory.upenn.edu
- Enable the This LDAP server requires authentication checkbox.
- Click the Click here for advanced LDAP options button.
- Enable the This LDAP server requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox.
- In the Account ID: field, enter uid=username, ou=PennPeople, dc=upenn, dc=edu, where username is your actual PennKey name.
- In the Password: field, enter your PennKey password.
- Click the Options button.
- In the Search base: field, enter ou=PennPeople, dc=upenn, dc=edu
- Click the OK button.
- Close the Accounts dialog.
