Communicate with Colleagues

Here are several ways to communicate with colleagues and staff.  Please note that some services are not available to everyone and some may require accounts or advanced registration.  Be sure to check with your LSP to ensure that any non-Penn service adheres to guidelines and best practices for accessing the network and as safeguarding Penn data and resources.

Resource feature
Webmail For many schools and centers, webmail is the recommended way to access your email account when you are away from your own office computer. All the major mail servers on campus are available via Webmail.

Voice Mail Services Most staff phones are equipped with voice mail.
ISC's Instant Messaging Service Talk to colleagues in “real time" through ISC's encrypted IM service. If you have a Zimbra account, PennNet Phone, or an Exchange account you automatically already have an ISC IM account.
Call Forwarding Configure your campus phone to forward calls to your home phone.
Three Way Calling Set up a conference call between you and two other participants.
Teleconferencing Hold conference calls with up to 20 participants.

Other Web Conferencing Resources

In addition to Penn resources, there are other vendors that offer web conferencing services. Work with your Local Support Provider to find out what tools they recommend and to make sure that whatever product you use adheres to guidelines and best practices for using electronic resources at Penn.

Adobe Connect Now Adobe Connect Now is part of the acrobat.com suite. It provide a very complete set of online collaboration tools, including free meetings with audio, video or screen sharing for up to 3 participants.
GoToMeeting GoToMeeting is simple and easy to use; it's well suited to research groups, business meetings or other activities which just basic features (audio, screen sharing, file exchange). GoToMeeting is also a good choice to include in mission continuity planning for instructional activities.
