Obtaining Networking Software
Recommended networking software,
including antiviral software, is free to the Penn community. The software
is available on the Web and on the PennConnect
DVD.
The supported networking software for Macintosh and Windows can be downloaded via the
Supported Products Web site using a Web browser. Individual
product pages include download links and links
to configuration information and product documentation. To download
software you will need to enter a PennKey and password.
Some of the software has
been compressed and will have to be uncompressed before
it can be used. Compressed Macintosh software has the suffix .hqx or .sea
(or both), and Windows software has the suffix .zip. Stuffit Expander for Mac
or Windows, available via the Supported Products site, can be used to uncompress files.
The Computing Resource Center (CRC) at 202 Sansom Place West distributes
all the supported networking software for Macintosh and Windows on DVD-ROM.
Hours are 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. You will need to
show your PENNcard to obtain the DVD.
