W32/Navidad Fix Tool

How to use it

1. Download the fixnavid.com file and save it to your Windows Desktop (or some other folder). Notice that the program has a ".com" extension, and not an ".exe" extension. This is by design -- please do not change the file extension of the tool, as it will cause it not to function correctly.

2. Double-click on the fixnavid.com file.

3. When the program has finished running, reboot the system.

4. Run a full system scan for viruses on the hard drive(s) of the machine. Follow the instructions for Norton AntiVirus and VirusScan on how to configure your anti-virus application to run a system scan. Also, ensure that your application has the latest anti-virus definitions installed before running the scan (VirusScan -- definition file version 4105, dated 11/10/00; NAV -- definition file dated 11/09/00).

What it does

The tool will remove all registry entries created or modified by the W32/Navidad virus, and delete the virus file itself. This will restore the machine to the state it was in before infection by Navidad. After running the tool, it is strongly recommended that the machine be rebooted and a full virus scan be done on its hard drive(s).
