Introduction

Pidgin is an instant messaging program for Windows, Linux, BSD, and other Unixes. Pidgin supports AIM, ICQ, Jabber/XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, QQ, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, MySpaceIM, and Zephyr.

Configuring Pidgin

Step 1

First open Pidgin. If it's the first time you're launching the program, you'll see the Welcome screen. Click the Add button





Step 2

In the "Add Account " tab, select XMPP from the Protocol: pulldown menu, enter "your_PennKey" in the Screen_name field , "upenn.edu" in the Domain field. Then click on the Advanced tab.



Step 3

Click on the Advanced tab. You should see the following screen appear.

Check "Require SSL/TLS" Enter jabber.upenn.edu in the "Connect Server:" field and 5222 in the "Connect Port:" field.

Click Save.

Step 4

You are now prompted for your PennKey Password
