Video Production, Videoconferencing, Cable Television Programming
ISC's Penn Video Services provides the University community with a full
range of services to support visual and audio-based
learning and research at Penn.
Video Production
Innovative, state-of-the-art production
and distribution services range from concept development,
scripting,
casting, and
location shoots,
to hiqh-quality production programs that can be streamed live
on the web or distributed on videotape, CD-ROM, DVD, via cable broadcast over
the Penn
Video Network, or via
satellite
over the Research Channel. Penn Video Services also operates
an in-house streaming video server for campus and light off-campus use that
can
deliver live real-time
webcasts. Campus departments can also bring their previously produced video
programs to Penn Video Services for streaming services.
Cable Television Programming
ISC operates
Penn
Video Network (PVN), the University’s
cable television and special video events network. PVN provides University
departments and centers, instructors, and all student groups the opportunity
to broadcast movies and special events programming that support academic
courses and programs free of charge. PVN's channel lineup features more
than 65 satellite-received channels delivering the best in cable TV to the
University community. PVN's steerable satellite dish can also accommodate
C- and Ku-band downlinks, bringing nationwide satellite event broadcasts
to Penn.
Videoconferencing
In addition to satellite downlinking, Penn Video operates a state-of-the-art
video conference room designed to support a wide range of media and communications
needs,
including
world-wide
videoconference
calls
using
either
IP or ISDN
technology,
Internet2
connections, high-definition streaming, and Access
Grid videoconferencing. To learn more, or to
