Mac OS 10.5.x

Note: Many schools and units have standardized on the use of specific applications and operating systems. Faculty and staff should speak to their local support provider to determine which products are supported locally before selecting or purchasing software.

Mac OS 10.5 was first released on October 26, 2007. Information Systems & Computing (ISC) supports and recommends Mac OS 10.5.8 and above for existing systems. The recommended minimum system requirements for Mac OS 10.5.x are:

1.1 GHz processor with 1.0 gigabyte of RAM

Please note that Mac OS 10.4.x ceased to be supported as of July, 2011.

Availability

If you plan to purchase a Macintosh system, please review the annually updated Desktop Computing Recommendations for Penn. Macintosh computers can be purchased from the Computer Connection at an educational discount.
