Firefox 3.x (Mac OS; Windows)

Note: Many schools and units have standardized on the use of specific applications and operating systems. Faculty and staff should speak to their local support provider to determine which products are supported locally before selecting or purchasing software.

Mozilla.org's Firefox is the University's supported and recommended web browser for Windows and Mac OS.

Important notes: A number of administrative systems, including BEN Financials and Penn Benefits Enrollment, require the use of Internet Explorer for supported access to their products. BEN Application users should refer to the BEN Desktop Standards Document for further information.

All versions of Firefox 3.0.x automatically update to the latest available version of Firefox 3.0.x, currently 3.0.13. Information Systems & Computing (ISC) strongly suggests allowing this update process to complete.

Windows 7 Compatibility

Firefox 3.0.x and 3.5.x function correctly in Windows 7.

Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard Compatibility

Firefox 3.0.x and 3.5.x function correctly in Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Download

Firefox is distributed free of charge to members of the Penn community. Firefox is available for download using your PennKey and password.

Mac OS

Click on the download link below. The file will automatically unzip and place an installer on the desktop. Double-click the installer icon and follow the on-screen instructions accepting the defaults. After you finish, you can delete the installation file(s) from the desktop.

• Download the 'Pennified' version of Firefox 3.5.1 for Mac OS

Windows

Click on the download link below. In the "Save As" window, create or go to the directory in which you want to save the file and click "Save". Open this directory, double-click the installation file, and follow the on-screen instructions accepting the defaults. After you finish, you can delete the installation file.
