FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS

ORIENTATION TO....
Computing Special Interest Groups
Thursday, August 21, 2008
9:00 - 10:30 AM

IT Orientation Follow-up Sessions

Follow-up sessions cover important, but less time sensitive, information about Penn's computing policies, projects and structures.

Next Follow-up Session is:

ORIENTATION TO... Computing Special Interest Groups at Penn

Penn provides a number of opportunities for IT Professionals to network with colleagues around campus.  Special Interest Groups and mailing lists help facilitate information sharing with people you may not otherwise ever have the chance to meet with the added benefit of learning about new and various technologies.  As a new IT staff member at Penn, how do you know which groups apply to you and which may help you in your job?

The leaders of some of Penn’s computing Special Interest Groups will provide an orientation to these groups.  You’ll learn more about the charter of the group, recent topics of discussion, the format of meetings, and you’ll get to meet the group coordinators who collectively have over 70 years experience at the University.  Scheduled to participate in this orientation session are:

  • MacNet – Macintosh Networking – Tony Olejnik
  • Mobile Computing  Special Interest Group – Bob DeSilets
  • PAC-SIG – Public Area Computing – Rob Short
  • PCNet – Windows Networking - Tony Olejnik
  • Security-SIG – Information Security – John Lupton
  • Super User Group – Steve Strawser
  • WEB-SIG - Web Special Interest Group – Jen Yuan

This IT Orientation follow-up session will be held:

Thursday, August 21, 2008
9:00 - 10:30 AM
Sansom Place West, 37th & Chestnut
