Product History At The University

The 2005 client/server email client evaluation team evaluated Entourage 2004 in Spring 2005 and did not give it supported status. The 2007 client/server email client evaluation team evaluated Entourage 2004 in Spring 2007 and gave it supported and recommended status when used with Microsoft's Exchange protocol for Fiscal 2008. Entourage 2008 was released as part of Office 2008 in January 2008 and the University supported Entourage 2004 for Fiscal 2009 while supporting and recommending Entourage 2008 for Fiscal 2009. These levels of support were extended into Fiscal 2010. Support for Entourage 2004 and versions of Entourage 2008 previous to SP2 was retired at the end of Fiscal 2010. Support for versions of Entourage previous to EWS was retired at the end of Fiscal 2011.

Entourage EWS

Microsoft released Entourage 2008 for Exchange Web Services client (otherwise known as Entourage 13.0.0 or Entourage EWS) on August 13th, 2009.

Entourage EWS is a substantial upgrade to Entourage 2008 RTM, but is not a complete fix for all of Entourage's deficiencies. In extensive public and private beta testing, it has performed notably better in calendar synchronization and somewhat better in other areas. Information Systems & Computing (ISC) believes that Entourage EWS is a solid upgrade for Entourage 2008 users.

OS X Mountain Lion Compatibility

Entourage 2008 EWS functions as expected in OS X Mountain Lion.
