Outlook 2003 & 2007 (Windows)
Important note: this document is designed for Local Support Providers (LSPs). The user-level Outlook document is here and includes general availability, configuration, documentation, and support information. This page was last modified on Monday, 07-Jul-2008 19:19:53 EDT. In order to use the Penn Online Directory with Outlook 2003 and an IMAP/POP mail server, you must follow the instructions in Configuring Outlook 2003 For LDAP (involves a registry 'hack' and some client reconfiguration). Product History At The UniversityThe 2007 client/server email client evaluation team evaluated Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003 in Spring 2007. They gave Outlook 2007 supported and recommended status when used in Exchange environments and supported status when used in IMAP/POP environments for Fiscal 2008. Outlook 2003 received supported status for both Exchange and IMAP/POP environments. Both Outlook 2003's and Outlook 2007's support status were extended into Fiscal 2009. Windows Vista CompatibilityOutlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 function correctly in the University-supported 32-bit versions of Windows Vista. 2007 Daylight Saving Time ChangesMicrosoft has created an time zone update tool for Outlook. It is important that system level DST patches be applied before applying this patch to an end user's desktop. Microsoft has also provided some recommendations to help minimize the effect of the extended DST period on calendaring. See the 2007 Daylight Saving Time Changes page for more information. Usage NotesIn order to view free/busy time for attendees, you must use the invitee's PennKey or select him or her from the Global Address book. Entering other addresses such as username@isc.upenn.edu or username@upenn.edu will not permit you to view free/busy time for the invitees. DocumentationVarious user-level documentation for ISC's Exchange service, including Outlook-specific instructions, are located here. |
