XpressConnect 4.0.x (OS X)

Important note: this document is designed for Local Support Providers (LSPs). The user-level XpressConnect for OS X document is here and includes general availability, configuration, documentation, and support information. This page was last modified on Monday, 06-Aug-2012 13:34:43 EDT.

XpressConnect 4.0.x is the University's supported and recommended authentication application for accessing AirPennNet via OS X. To connect to AirPennNet, you need a wireless device on your notebook that supports at least 802.11g (WiFi) and preferably 802.11n. All Apple notebooks since 2004 have come with 802.11g with 802.11n being present in all Apple notebooks from 2006 forward.

Connections to AirPennNet in OS X have been greatly simplified. Users download the XpressConnect wizard, and then supply their PennKey credentials in the XpressConnect wizard set-up screen. These credentials are passed transparently to OS X. The result is that users are automatically connected to AirPennNet on subsequent connections.

Important note: LSPs should not use their own PennKey credentials to connect to AirPennNet when setting up an end user's computer. Similarly, users using a shared OS X computer should connect to AirPennNet from their own accounts, not from a shared account.

OS X Mountain Lion Compatibility

XpressConnect version 4.0.x functions correctly in OS X Mountain Lion.
