Resources for accessing on-campus services and Windows desktop systems from remote locations

Beginning Tuesday, April 11, 2006 new security measures were implemented to block or redirect certain kinds of Internet traffic coming to campus via the routes most commonly used by viruses and worms. These "edge filtering" measures help protect Penn's network from future virus and worm outbreaks.

In general, most users did not see any change as a result of filtering. A small minority of off-campus users of some Windows-based services were be affected, and needed to change configurations or employ new methods for accessing on-campus servers and workstations remotely. On-campus users were not affected.

This site is a resource to help you implement steps to respond to this change. Consult with your LSP to determine which, if any, of these steps are necessary for you to take for continued access from off-campus to the files and services you need.
