Additional User Information (PennGroups)
Penn WebLogin is an authentication service and only returns the PennKey to your application. We do not return any other user information. If your application needs more information about the authenticating user to grant authorization to certain services or processes that you provide, you can consider using PennGroups.
Steps to take if you plan to use PennGroups:
- Request access to PennGroups for your Kerberos principal and the service principal that your application may be using by sending mail to penngroups-help@lists.upenn.edu.
- Download the Grouper client
- See the PennGroups Wiki documentation for how to test your access with the Grouper client and other information on how to use PennGroups.
- If your application only needs the PennID of the authenticating user, consider using the LDAP interface to PennGroups
