AirPennNet

AirPennNet is the University’s campus-wide wireless network permitting secure and convenient network access in campus buildings and residence halls, in public spaces such as Van Pelt Library and Houston Hall, and in outdoor spaces such as College Green and  Pereleman Quad. Beginning in early 2008, ISC Networking and Telecommunications began plans to expand AirPennNet and to replace our older web-based wireless service with one that offers secure access to PennNet (the University's data network), encrypting user data over the wireless airwaves.

It can be a bit challenging initially to configure your wireless device to use AirPennNet. However the on-line documentation provides step by step instructions on how to configure either MAC or PC devices. Once configured, wireless access is much simpler since users can connect without the need to open a web-browser. Users should contact their local support provider if they still have difficulty getting connected or stayting connected.

AirPennNet-Guest is a web-based wireless network with limited bandwidth and no encryption that is set up for visitors to Penn or those with devices not capable of supporting 802.1x. The service lasts one week from the time a user registers.

What's New with AirPennNet?

  • The AirPennNet-Guest registration period now spans a full week from onset of registration (registrations no longer expire Sundays at 11:59pm).
  • Penn affiliates can now sponsor a guest on AirPennNet-Guest.
  • Access to AirPennNet-Guest spans one full week from onset of registration whether you were sponsored or registered yourself.
