AirPennNet Coverage Changes for July 1, 2008

As of July 1, 2008, AirPennNet, the wireless service installed in a large number campus buildings and public spaces, will be the preferred wireless service for most faculty, staff and students. Wireless PennNet, which currently co-exists with AirPennNet in many buildings and public areas, will be retired on June 30.

AirPennNet is also scheduled to replace AirSAS (installed in many SAS buildings) and be added SEAS buildings, where it will coexist with AirSEAS.

Please see the revised wireless coverage map for July 1, 2008 for location details.

Wireless users who have not previously used AirPennNet are encouraged to configure their systems for AirPennNet as soon as possible to ensure that they can connect to the preferred wireless network on July 1. Instructions follow. Visitors and others unable to install or configure the 802.1X client required to access AirPennNet can use the new AirPennNet-Guest service.

Getting Started with AirPennNet

In order to connect to AirPennNet, Windows users need to download and configure SecureW2 client software, which provides 802.1X authentication. Macintosh users simply need to configure their computer for 802.1X authentication; no separate client software is required. For instructions on setting up your computer for AirPennNet, select one of the operating system-specific configuration options on the menu at left.

For help with configuration or troubleshooting, choose from one of the following links or contact your Local Support Provider.

Network Security and Authentication

To keep the network as secure as possible, users must authenticate using their PennKey each time they log on to AirPennNet.
