AirPennNet-Guest Service Enhancement Announcement

AirPennNet-Guest is a web-based wireless network that is set up for visitors to Penn or for those with devices not capable of supporting 802.1x. Current registration period lasts  for up to one week and expires each Sunday evening at 11:59 PM. Beginning Monday 11/09/2009 the registration period will be one week from the onset of registration. This feature change should reduce the number of times a visitor needs to re-register on the AirPennNet-Guest network.. Upon successful registration, users will be notified via email when their lease expires and must renew registration after the one week registration period.

A new feature has been added to the AirPennNet-Guest service. Beginning Monday 11/09/2009, all faculty and staff, or those with a long-term Penn affiliation may sponsor a guest to access the AirPennNet-Guest network. To sponsor a guest, sponsors must log in to the AirPennNet-Guest Sponsored Guest Registration page and provide their own PennKey and password. They must also provide additional contact information for their guest, including the Guest Name, cell phone number, email and the MAC address of their guest’s computing device. Initial access to the AirPennNet-Guest network could take as long as 3 minutes after the registration completes. Upon successful registration, the Penn sponsor and the guest will receive an email message informing them of the registration terms. The guest will also receive a copy of Penn’s Acceptable Use Policy.
