AirPennNet-Guest Enhancements 2012
In fall 2011, an IT Roundtable sub team proposed a strategy to simplify and streamline access to Penn's wireless network for guests, AirPennNet-Guest, while maintaining the security of a private network.
We are pleased to announce that the final of these three enhancements will be available as of Thursday, December 6, 2012. Beginning on Thursday, December 6th it will be possible for authorized Penn faculty and staff to generate a single Conference Code which can be shared with multiple conference attendees to allow them to register their own devices.
How to Sponsor Access to AirPennNet-Guest
- Guest PennKey: Traditional log in via a Guest PennKey and password from the AirPennNet-Guest splash page.
- Sponsored Device with Known Hardware Address: Sponsoring the guest device's MAC or hardware address through a registration form.
- Penn Affiliate Assisted Registration: This process requires both the guest and the Penn affiliate to be present to complete portions of a registration form on the guest's device. (available on July 12, 2012)
- Guest Access Code Registration: Penn faculty, students, and staff will be able to create a Guest access code to give to guests. (available on September 13, 2012)
- Guest Conference Code Registration: Guests who are attending a large group event can be given a Guest Conference Code by the conference organizer to self-register on AirPennNet-Guest. (available on December 6, 2012)
