Request Wireless Installation

If you have browsed through the wireless service pages a bit, you can see that Wireless PennNet, while convenient and simple to use, also has its limitations. Current wireless implementations offer limited shared bandwidth and equipment costs remain high for Penn's centralized, highly secure service. If you are considering a Wireless PennNet installation in your area, please review our Details to Consider page to better understand how Wireless PennNet service design and installation and ongoing costs are determined.

To request wireless service in your area, submit an email to service-requests@isc.upenn.edu.

Please include the following information:

  • Describe desired coverage area(s). - Will this coverage be indoor or outdoor (or both)? Is coverage needed on more than one floor of a building or in non-continuous areas? For examples of coverage areas, you may want to look at public area coverage maps. Click on circled areas on the main map to view coverage area details.
  • Provide an estimate of the number of potential users.
  • Give detail about the intended use of the service in your area. - What will your users need to accomplish wirelessly?
You may also want to review the How Wireless PennNet Works and Future Plans pages in order to learn a bit about the service you're requesting and where the University is heading with it.
