Consultation & Observation

All instructors at Penn are invited to consult with CTL individually about their teaching. Anyone teaching at Penn — from senior faculty to new teaching assistants, from those who excel and may want to try new ideas to those looking to improve — is welcome. Consultations can focus on any aspects of interest to the instructor — from designing a course to leading a class, from specific questions to broad support for development.

CTL staff can also observe instructors in the classroom. After the observation, the CTL observer will meet with the instructor to discuss the class and ways of achieving the instructor’s teaching goals. Observed class sessions can also be recorded, if the instructor wishes to review his or her own class.

All consultations and observations are confidential.

To arrange a consultation or observation, contact Bruce Lenthall.
