The Fellows

Stacey DannerStacey James Danner is currently working as a Community Revitalization Program Officer for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, where he analyzes financial structures, provides training about tax credits and community development financial institutions, and sources development financing opportunities for the National Trust Loan Fund and the National Trust Community Investment Corporation. He partners with local government, non profit, Main Streets and for profit organizations to revitalize neighborhoods and help displaced residents rehabilitate their homes.

Mr. Danner brings ten years of commitment to community and urban development by working on both human capital and development projects. Upon arriving in New Orleans Mr. Danner worked as Project Director with Community Development Capital, a New Orleans based Community Development Entity.

Prior to being selected for a Center for Urban Redevelopment Excellence Fellowship (CURExPenn) Mr. Danner started, owned and operated Urban Solutions Real Estate Services (USRES), a consulting company that performed economic development planning, urban planning, real estate investment as well as real estate development. USRES specializes in property acquisition, predevelopment, finance and development project management, along with some residential property management services.

While operating USRES, Mr. Danner simultaneously worked at Cosmopolitan Mortgage Philadelphia Branch as a Senior Business Development Analyst. His primary responsibilities included advising clients concerning real estate realignment before and during bankruptcy, as well as organizing training for loan officers to stay current with mortgage trends and important legislation on both the state and national levels.

Prior to Cosmopolitan, Mr. Danner directed the Harrison Community Compact (HCC) Integrative Technology Program with the Temple University Information Technology & Society Research Group (ITSRG). HCC bridges the digital divide through providing tutoring, training and a culturally relevant curriculum for youth. At HCC, Mr. Danner directed all facets of program conceptualization and implementation. He designed and authored curriculum and operation manuals for all staff, developed funding, volunteer opportunities, and resources for program implementation. Finally, he contributed significant content toward a $4 million ITSRG grant award. The HCC program was awarded top honors for after school programming in Philadelphia by an independent United Way evaluation process.

Other positions that Mr. Danner has held are Transitional Housing Social Worker, Community Commercial Economic Developer, Diversity Trainer, College Instructor and Grant Writer.

Mr. Danner received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Justice and Peace Studies from the University of St. Thomas as a recipient of the Minneapolis Scholarship. In addition he is the first recipient of the “Stacey Danner Commitment to Diversity Award”, that is given out every year at his alma-mater in his honor. Mr. Danner continued to excel with his educational goals through travel with international education and experiences in Galapagos, India, and Mexico amongst others. He earned a Masters of Arts in Geography and Urban Studies with a Concentration in Banking and Urban Economic Development at Temple University. At the conclusion of his time at Temple University, Mr. Danner was honored with a Teacher of the Year Award. Currently, Mr. Danner is a Community Fellow at the Temple University Information Technology and Society Research Group, and he is on the board of The Sanctuary Holistic Living and Arts Inc.
