Tessa Jackson brings
more than a decade of new venture strategy and social entrepreneurship
experience to her position as a program manager for the AFL-CIO Investment
Trust Corporation (AFL-CIO ITC). At the AFL-CIO ITC she is responsible
for managing a range of projects and initiatives in conjunction with
the organization’s Gulf Coast Revitalization Program.
Before being selected as a fellow, Ms. Jackson was the Gulf Coast
Field Officer for Trickle Up, an international microfinance organization
that provides seed capital to low-income entrepreneurs. In this capacity,
she evaluated and approved business plans, developed entrepreneur
training, and managed working relationships with almost a dozen coordinating
partner organizations in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Through this experience, and her involvement with such institutions
as The New Orleans Public Library Board, the Roberts Enterprise Development
Fund and the Network for African-American Technology Entrepreneurs,
which she co-founded, Ms. Jackson has demonstrated a passion and aptitude
for promoting entrepreneurial and high level strategic thinking in
both the public and private sector.
Ms. Jackson has an MBA in marketing and entrepreneurship from UC
Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and an undergraduate degree
in mechanical engineering and studio art from Stanford. A New Orleans
native and current resident of the city’s Broadmoor neighborhood,
she currently serves on the board of Young Arts/Young Aspirations
and is a discussion group coordinator for the Social Entrepreneurs
of New Orleans.
