| Gionne Jourdan-McGinnis
joined Michaels Development Company in 2003 as Development Assistant
in the Southeast Regional office and was promoted to Development Officer
in 2005. As an Officer, she utilizes her communication skills, housing
experience and knowledge of the New Orleans area to assist the Sr.
Vice President of Development in all aspects of project development.
Her duties include securing financing, community outreach, coordinating
with the housing authorities, finance agencies, governmental officials,
community partners, and the development team, and the generation of
new business.
Ms. Jourdan-McGinnis is currently involved with two large scale
HOPE VI Community Revitalization efforts in New Orleans, Louisiana
and Tampa, Florida. These developments total more than 1,300 units
of mixed-income housing with a total development cost of nearly
$125 million. In addition, she is also participating in the redevelopment
of the Newtown Revitalization Project, a multi-site, mixed-used,
mixed-income, new construction project located in Sarasota, FL.
Prior to joining Michaels Development, Ms. Jourdan-McGinnis served
as the Freret Main Street Manager with Neighborhood Housing Services
of New Orleans, Inc. In that role, she was responsible for the revitalization
of the Freret Street neighborhood business corridor, including researching,
organizing and implementing its Façade Improvement and Cooperative
Marketing programs and working with the local and small businesses
and microenterprises. In addition, she ensured that the tenets of
the Main Street 4-Point Approach (National Trust for Historic Preservation)
were incorporated.
From 1990 to 2001, Ms. Jourdan held various positions in the Communications
field. Prior to her position at the Neighborhood Housing Services
of New Orleans, she was the Director of Communications for the Multi
Image Resource Group, Inc. where she was responsible for the generation
of a wide variety of public relations materials, special events
planning and logistics, and sponsor & media relations for events
such as the Essence Music Festival, the State Farm Bayou Classic,
the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and the Birmingham
Civil Rights Institute as well as other local and regional events
throughout the southeast. Additionally, she held the positions of
Director of Operations with The Hawthorne Agency and Editorial Assistant
with The Times-Picayune Newspaper.
She earned a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University
of New Orleans and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications
(Print Journalism) from Loyola University. She is a member of Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority.
