Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award

The Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award provides up to $50,000 per year for up to three years to college seniors and recent graduates with significant financial need who will pursue a graduate or professional degree in the visual arts, performing arts, or creative writing. The Graduate Arts Award will enable up to 15 students with artistic and creative merit and outstanding academic achievement to pursue a graduate degree in the fine arts, performing arts, or creative writing. The award will provide funding for tuition, room and board, required fees, and books, and is renewable for up to three years.
Eligibility and Qualifications
- Senior standing or have graduated from an accredited four-year US college or university within the past five years.
- A cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.20 or better on a scale of 4.0 (or the equivalent).
- Demonstrated unmet financial need.
- A bachelor’s degree by the start of the fall semester.
- Plans to begin their first graduate degree program at an accredited college or university in the fall.
Application Procedures and Selection Criteria
New this year is a two-phase application process. Deadline for Phase One of the application is November 28, 2012. Applicants selected to continue onto Phase Two of the application must be nominated by their undergraduate institution by February 12, 2013.
Applicants apply through the Jack Kent Cooke website, and all Penn-affiliated nominations are forwarded to the committee through CURF. Applicants cannot apply directly and must be nominated through CURF.
