The NSEP David L. Boren Fellowship is for specialized graduate study of languages and cultures deemed critical to U.S. national security. Awards may be used for domestic tuition support for language study as well as overseas study and research in conjunction with a US graduate program. U.S. citizenship required. Applicants for Boren must be enrolled or in the process of enrolling in a graduate degree program. Recipients incur a service requirement working for a US agency associated with national security.

The Carnegie Junior Fellows Program provides a substantive work experience for
students with serious interest in international affairs. This is a paid, working one-year internship.
Assignments involve research and editorial assistance to senior associates in the areas of nuclear
nonproliferation, arms control, democracy, economic reform, immigration, and regional research.
No citizenship requirement but candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Penn can nominate two applicants.

These scholarships are offered by the British Government in more than 150 countries, so that talented graduates and young professionals may become acquainted with the UK and gain new expertise for the benefit of their own countries. In some cases, graduating students can apply; in other cases, only young professionals working in their home country are eligible. US citizens are not eligible.

The Churchill Scholarship provides one year of graduate study in engineering, mathematics or science tenable at Churchill College, Cambridge University, England. Applicants for Churchill should also apply for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship due October 15. The scholarship pays tuition and fees, plus living allowance. U.S. citzenship required, applicants must be between 19 and 26 years old upon beginning the fellowship.

Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Fellowship
The JKC Graduate Fellowship funds up to six years of graduate study towards any graduate or professional degree in the US or abroad. Graduating seniors and recent graduates not currently enrolled elsewhere are eligible.

A typical Fulbright grant covers 9-10 months of independent research or investigatory project that the applicant defines and designs. These can be in any subject or discipline -- including fine or performing arts. Applications are made to one of over 130 countries. In some countries there are opportunities for purshing a one-year degree, for teachhing English or for working as an intern. US citizenship is required. Graduating seniors, graduate students, alumni or any year -- all are eligible.
Dissertation students should also consider applying for the Fulbright-Hays. CURF does not coordinate Fulbright Hays applications. Due dates will differ from those for Fulbright US Student Program.

Gates Scholarsihp allow 1-3 years of study in any discipline at University of Cambridge. Most applicants will pursue a graduate degree but a second BA is permitted and makes sense in some cases. Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program
The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program identifies students with significant leadership potential and provides them with mentoring and networking opportunities to develop that potential. Global Leaders receive an award of $3000. Half are then selected to attend the annual Global Leadership Institute – a week-long participatory seminar on leadership training and timely international issues. Applications are accepted from citizens of any country. Students must be in their second year of college/university study. Sophomore standing is not necessary; students can be planning to graduate in three years or five years.

Goldwater Scholarship Program is for outstanding students who plan to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering and are currently active in research in these fields.
