Finding University Programs in the UKThere is an on-line ranking of UK graduate programs specifically by discipline. This is the result of an in-depth survey done every five years.
click on "results" The resulting list includes every institution in the UK that has a graduate degree in that subject area. The second column is the ranking, with the top scores a "5" or "5*"." Since you're applying to top fellowships, you'll want only to look at top-ranked schools. You can then consult the graduate catalogs (linked from the CURF fellowship page and available in hard-copy in the CURF office) to determine which of the top-ranked programs is the school to which you should apply.

2/3 of the way down the screen in the left margin, under the heading "FURTHER STUDY", click on "Finding courses and research". On this site you can search by keywords more specific than broad discipline areas. Be sure to check "full-time" at the top of the screen, and "no" at the bottom to the question "are you a UK graduate."
More details about the British system in general as well as alphabetic links to every UK school are available on the British Council page: http://www.marshallscholarship.org/links.html
