Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship
Deadline: Contact your local Rotary club
The Rotary Foundation offers a variety of educational awards in order to promote friendly relations between people of different nations. The graduate and undergraduate fellowships are awarded for one, two, or three years of university study in any one of more than 100 countries in which there is a Rotary club.
While abroad, scholars serve as ambassadors of goodwill to the people of the host country and give presentations about their homeland to Rotary clubs and other groups. Upon returning home, they are expected to make presentations about their experiences abroad. Eligibility and Qualifications
Application Procedures and Selection CriteriaApplication may be made only through a Rotary club in the Rotary district in which the applicant's legal address is located. The application must be typewritten and submitted in duplicate to the secretary of the sponsoring club no later than the club deadline.
To be submitted with the application form:
TimeframeDeadlines are set separately by each Rotary club and may be as early as 20 months before the course of study is to begin. It is imperative, therefore, to determine as soon as possible the timetable to be used by one's sponsoring Rotary club.
Each Rotary club may nominate two candidates for consideration by the Rotary district selection committee. The number of awards to which each district is entitled is determined by the amount of money contributed by that district during the preceding year. Selection by both the club and the district is based upon the application materials, plus an interview. Applicants are notified of selection soon after the district interview. Contact Cheryl Shipman
