BFS Summer Funding Application

Application Form
Guidelines for Faculty Recommenders

Benjamin Franklin Scholars funds cannot be applied to any costs for which other funding is available. You should concurrently pursue other sources of funding. The MAXIMUM BFS summer stipend is $2100 for three months, full time. Partial stipends may be awarded. All material is due by April 1.

A copy of "Guidelines For Faculty" is available, also in hard-copy at CURF. Please give a copy to your faculty sponsor.

1) Attach a research proposal abstract (200 words) including your objectives and methodology. You should include a paragraph on how this project fits into your undergraduate career and your long-term goals.

2) Have your faculty sponsor write a letter of support and submit it to CURF no later than April 1.

3) Attach a detailed budget request. Please be specific.

4) Please list any other grants for which you are applying.

5) At the end of the grant period, you must submit a summary of the research you have accomplished. There will be two summer lunches to present on work in progress, and a fall presentation of results. You will be expected to participate.

Applicants must be members in good standing of the University of Pennsylvania community.
