Rare Book & Manuscript Library
Students with strong interests in primary source research materials are encouraged to apply for a summer internship in the Rare Book & Manuscript Library. There, the curatorial staff will work closely with students on a variety of projects relating to rare books, manuscripts, ephemera, and digital facsimiles. Students have an opportunity to be introduced to the full spectrum of activities in the unit, from buying and processing books and manuscripts for the collections, to conservation, exhibitions, and possibly even fundraising. Or, students can choose to focus in one or another area, depending on their needs and interests. In the past, interns have catalogued 18th-century manuscript collections, organized some of Ezra Pound’s correspondence, and photographed and catalogue a collection of theatrical posters from the late 19th century.
