Dr. Donato LaRossa, Professor of Surgery Emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania will present the topic:

Plastic Surgery Missions in the Developing World

Each year, forty thousand children are born with a cleft lip and/or palate in China alone. Worldwide the numbers exceed the capacity of local surgeons to keep up with the need for treatment. For many years plastic surgeons from the USA and other western countries have volunteered their services throughout the developing world to help treat these patients. The author has participated in a number of these missions since 1990 and will review his personal experience.
