Career and Internship OptionsWhen prospective students and parents ask us what an M&T student does after graduation with their two degrees, it’s a difficult question to answer. Given the breadth of options created by the dual degree education, the choices are truly endless. Every year, a number of well known firms make special visits to Penn specifically to recruit M&T students. These world class organizations have come to recognize the quality of our student body, and their unique strengths in grasping both technology and business challenges. This is further evident during on-campus recruiting when M&T students receive the greatest number of employment opportunities and highest compensation among all other undergraduates. Our students and alumni can be found in every industry from the financial sector to technical consulting to engineering to medicine. The problem solving and analytic skills an M&T student hones while at Penn are highly sought after. When it comes to the internship season, M&T students generally have a pick of numerous opportunities. Our students secure intern opportunities in a variety of fields providing them with strong professional experience. Many of these summer opportunities also develop into full-time employment after graduation. M&T Intern Fellowship Award In the summer of 2007, the M&T Program launched a new initiative that is directly aimed at assisting students pursue internships with early stage companies. Now in its sixth year, the Intern Fellowship Award provides partial summer support to selected M&T students who are pursuing an entrepreneurial venture over the summer. Preference for the awards is given to internships offered by or through M&T Alumni. In 2011, we supported 15 students with stipends between $1500 and $3000. Our goal, funding permitted, is to 25 intern fellowships per year. The Intern Fellowship process normally kicks off in mid-January of every year.
