Why M&T?
I've always been good at science and math and interested in the social implications of technology. Penn's M&T program is well established, unlike newer programs at other institutions. There's a high level of cohesion between the business and engineering aspects of the curriculum, and that makes for unity within the program and among its students.
Life at Penn
When I visited Penn I saw how much extracurricular activity goes on - on Locust Walk everybody was handing out fliers for different organizations and I could tell that students here seemed very happy. Being in a city means there is always something to do, whether it's restaurants or movies or other performances. Penn has done an especially good job of integrating the campus into the surrounding neighborhoods.
Plans After Graduation
Next year I will be joining Teach for America in Chicago. After that I will be starting medical school. Last summer I went to Hong Kong and China with a Penn Engineering program and worked in a prosthetics lab. That exposure has encouraged me to practice medicine and work with a nonprofit or in public policy, and I know my M&T business background will serve me well.
