Sample ScheduleM&TSI is a rigorous summer academic experience. Because college credit is awarded for the course, completion of homework, lab reports and a final project are expectations for all participants. The schedule is demanding, but also extremely rewarding. Year after year, students comment on the amount they learned during their three week experience and the strong friendships they have gained. Team work is also emphasized through lab work and final team projects. In addition to the academic experiences, M&TSI prides itself on exposing students to college life in a major city. M&TSI students live on Penn's campus and experience dorm life. They explore Philadelphia, heading to must do activities like finding the best cheesesteak, riding the Duck Tour, and strolling through South Street. Weekend trips to Washington, D.C. and area amusement parks complete the summer. Students are guided through M&TSI with the help of current Penn students who serve as Residential Teaching Assistants (RTAs). The RTAs live with the students and assist them with everything from learning how to do laundry away from home to how to write a lab report. The RTAs are an endless source of information, guidance and fun to the students. To see the 2009 Summer Syllabus and Schedule, click here. The 2010 schedule will be slightly different, but this will provide an idea of what to expect during the program.
