Relays Racer

A highlight of this year’s Penn Relays was the appearance of the world’s fastest man—Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, the three-time Olympic Gold medalist and multiple world-record holder. A capacity crowd of nearly 55,000 in Franklin Field watched Bolt anchor the Jamaican team in a record-setting win in the USA vs. the World men’s 4x100 meter race. Bolt ran his leg of the race in 8.79 seconds, for an overall team time of 37.90 seconds—the fastest ever at the relays or on Franklin Field. PHOTOGRAPH BY TOMMY LEONARDI C’89
