Painting the Town (Hall) Red and Blue
A hundred volunteers from the Southern California Alumni Association
recently teamed up with several other Los Angeles community groups to
kick off a mural-painting project at City Hall. A 10,000- square foot
mural will hide the construction fence surrounding City Hall's Seismic
Rehabilitation Project for the next three years. Penn volunteers also
used the occasion to have fun and build mentor relationships with students
from LA's BEST (Better Educated Students for Tomorrow), an after-school
program that provides free activities to children in neighborhoods most
vulnerable to gangs, drugs, and crime.
