
The purpose of the Fontaine Society Travel Fellowship is to assist Fontaine
Fellows who are presenting and/or attending conferences in their field
of study. Because fellowships are limited (five per semester), applicants
are encouraged to exhaust other sources of funding before soliciting the
Fontaine Society. In competitive circumstances, awards will be given first
to Fellows who will be presenting and who demonstrate the greatest need.
Please keep the following guidelines in mind.

Applicants must be Fontaine Fellows at the University of Pennsylvania.

Applicants must be full-time students at the University of Pennsylvania.
Fellows on dissertation status are eligible to apply.

Applicants presenting at a conference will receive highest priority
for funding. Applications from students who plan to attend a conference
(but who are not presenting there) will receive lesser priority.

Applicants are eligible for one travel fellowship per year.

Application must include the notification of acceptance to the conference.

Application must include an abstract of your paper or presentation.

The Fontaine Society Travel Fellowship must be used toward travel expenses
to and from the conference (air, train, shuttle, bus, and taxi), lodging,
and/or the registration fee.

The maximum award is two hundred dollars ($400)

Please submit original receipts. No photocopied receipts will be accepted.
The Spring 2007 application deadline is March 23.
The Fall 2007 application deadline is November 2.
Travel fellowship recipients will be notified within three weeks of
the application deadline.
