Raymond J. Fonseca

Dr. Fonseca is Professor of Oral Surgery/Pharmacology and Dean of the School of Dental Medicine. His research interests include the clinical investigation of transmandibular implants, orthognathic surgery, and bone graft healing and revascularization. His research has resulted in the publication of 48 articles, 11 book chapters, 27 abstracts, and 5 major books: two editions of Reconstructive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, two editions of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Trauma, and Facial Clefts and Craniosynestosis. He was awarded both the Outstanding Educator Award and the Distinguished Researcher Award by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Fonseca currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Journal of Adult Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery, and the Compendium of Continuing Education n Dentistry. His teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in oral and maxillofacial surgery and pathology, as well as second-year selective and graduate courses in endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
