Perry Hanson assumed the duties of Chief Technology Officer at Williams College at the end of July, 1996. He provides leadership for planning, coordinating, and managing information technology activities and for promoting, through the use of information technology, excellence in teaching and learning, personal productivity, quality of student experience, and administrative productivity and quality. Before joining Williams College he served as Director for Information Systems and Telecommunications at Wellesley College for ten years. His interest in computing began while he was earning his Ph.D. in geography at Northwestern University. He taught geography for fifteen years at SUNY Buffalo, Middlebury College, and Clark University before taking his first administrative position in computing at Clark.
