Mark S. Wrighton is Chancellor and Professor of Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to moving to Washington University in 1995, he was a member of the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology beginning in 1972. He was Head of the Department of Chemistry at MIT from 1987 until 1990 when he was appointed Provost. Wrighton earned a B.S. degree from Florida State University in 1969 and the Ph.D. degree from the California Institute of Technology in 1972.
