Faculty Directors

Two faculty directors are charged with the responsibility for the Program and serve as the primary advisors for students.

Janice R. Bellace, Samuel Blank Professor of Legal Studies, and Professor of Legal Studies and Management at the Wharton School, specializes in International Labor Law. The author of numerous books, chapters, articles and papers, her research interests are in the field of labor and employment law, both domestic and international. She is a member of the Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations of the International Labor Organization and a senior editor of the Comparative Law Journal. She is on the executive board of the International Industrial Relations Association, and of the U.S. branch of the International Society for Labor Law and Social Security. She is a director of OCBC Banking Corporation in Singapore, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and of the Methodist Hospital Foundation. She received her bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a M.Sc. degree from the London School of Economics, which she attended as a Thouron Scholar.

Lance Donaldson-Evans, Professor of French Language and Literature in the Department of Romance Languages in the School of Arts and Sciences, specializes in the literature of the French Renaissance.  He also has a strong interest in advanced language teaching and translation.  Professor Donaldson-Evans studied French at the Universities of Newcastle and Melbourne (Australia), and the University of Geneva (Switzerland).  He was Chair of Romance Languages for seven years and Undergraduate Chair of French for twelve years.  He was also Chair of the Faculty Senate in 2003.

 

Roger Allen (Faculty Director 1994-2006), Professor of Arabic Language and Literature in the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies in the School of Arts and Sciences, specializes in Arabic Literature and is also an expert on language pedagogy. He is a certified tester for the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages and serves as ACTFL's national Trainer of Testers.
