Data Center Services
ISC’s state-of-the art data center provides database administration, disaster recovery, and storage management for systems and services. The data center can house servers belonging to Schools and Centers, provide storage and computing facilities for the research community, and tailor services to meet a wide range of equipment and application needs.
Data Center Related Infrastructure Consulting: ISC provides a broad range of consulting on data center infrastructure.
Business Continuity Service: In partnership with SunGard, ISC provides disaster recovery options for Schools and Centers. In the event of a disaster, Penn is provided with a “hot site” recovery center. Access to compatible computing resources enables mission critical systems to run for up to six weeks.
Cloud Computing: ISC offers cloud consulting services that help individuals, departments, and Schools explore cloud-based computing options and decide on the services that are right for them. In addition, ISC actively develops relationships and negotiates enterprise-wide agreements with leading cloud-computing providers which afford protections and advantages that are not available under most providers’ standard usage terms.
Computing Facilities/Data Center Space: ISC can provide computing space in our state-of-the-art data center, which provides a secure and climate-controlled environment that is monitored 24/7.
- Baseline Facilities Managed Space: Includes rack space in the climate controlled data center, with air conditioning, humidity control, fire detection and suppression, water detection, filtered power, uninterrupted power supply, controlled access, and Command Center video monitoring. Fee based on space, power, and cooling resources consumed.

- Fully Managed Space: Rack space as provided for Baseline Facilities Managed Space, plus the following: local and remote KVM service, hardware installation, cabling, hardware decommissioning and destruction, break/fix support, and asset management. Fee based on space, power, and cooling resources consumed plus an hourly rate for additional services.

Server Backup (Back-IT-UP): ISC offers backup transfer, storage, and recovery services that are automated and self-administered. We store compressed data regardless of operating system, file type, or file size.
Storage Management: ISC offers three tiers of state-of-the art Storage Area Network (SAN) services, delivering benefits such as improved utilization of storage capacity, optimized storage tiering, flexibility, scalability without disruption, and ultimately lower costs.
Systems Administration:
- Linux, Mainframe, Windows: ISC provides analysis, installation, maintenance, testing and technical support for enterprise Linux, Unix and Windows Server operating systems. Monitors system capacity and performance and develops and executes disaster recovery procedures. Services may also include: integrating new environments into existing data center environments, performing backups and applying operating system updates, patches and configuration changes.

LAN Services – Windows Active Directory Domains and Related Services: For University units that do not want to maintain and support Windows Active Directory domain controllers and related LAN services locally we offer support for domain controllers and file servers.
