Supported Software & Hardware
With the University community, ISC develops and publishes technology standards that play a strategic role in keeping down software and hardware costs, protecting Penn’s information assets, and ensuring access to, and interoperability across, Penn’s networked systems and services. ISC also makes key networking and antivirus software available free of charge.
Desktop Recommendations: ISC, in consultation with the Penn community, annually publishes recommendations for desktop and laptop computers.
Supported Software Products: The supported products grid has information on how to obtain, configure, and use software that has been recommended by ISC for general-purpose campus-wide use. It includes download links to selected software.
Virtual Desktop: ISC LAN Technology Services offers a virtual desktop service using VMware View. The virtual desktop infrastructure is hosted in ISC’s Data Center, and the virtual desktops can be accessed securely from any location at Penn, at home, or on the road.
Virus Information Site: This site provides information on how to protect yourself from viruses and malware by installing, configuring, and updating Penn’s supported and site-licensed antivirus software.
The Business Service Division provides the following related services.
Penn Computer Connection: The Computer Connection is the campus computer retail outlet for faculty, staff, and students. The store offers educational discounts on computers, hardware, software, accessories, and supplies.
Office of Software Licensing: The Office of Software Licensing negotiates and administers software site licenses and volume discounts programs at Penn, and distributes licenses and media for those programs.
