ISC manages Penn's central web server, www.upenn.edu, and provides campus-wide navigation aids such as the Penn Web Search and Penn A-Z. Various web hosting packages are available to schools and centers as well as domain name registration and security for various web applications.
Domain Names: ISC can provide a third-level-domain for School/Center initiatives, programs, or services (e.g., [program].upenn.edu), which can be used for web hosting, email, or other services.
Online Directory: ISC manages Penn’s Online Directory that offers customized contact information for faculty, staff, and students; UPHS employees; and departments. Directory listings are tailored by individuals and departments and provide robust privacy protections.
Streaming, Webcast and Podcast Services: ISC can help record your audio or video event and post it to popular sites like YouTube, iTunes, or Penn’s Flash video streaming server. For high visibility or popular events ISC can capture and stream the video live from a web site.
Web Hosting: ISC can support your web hosting needs by providing:
University Hosting - ISC can provide space on www.upenn.edu including site backups that can be available even during maintenance. Site development and content are managed by customers.
Advanced Hosting - For custom applications and content management systems, organizations can enable CGI programs, PHP scripting, or MySQL database access.
Development Site Hosting - When needed, ISC can provide a development server that very closely resembles the production web server for programming and testing.
