Steffie Woolhandler, MD, MPH, FACP

Steffie Woolhandler grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. She practices primary care internal medicine at The Cambridge Hospital and teaches at Harvard where she is an Associate Professor of Medicine and co-Director of the General Internal Medicine Fellowship Program. In 1986, she co-founded Physicians for a National Health Program, which advocates a single-payer system of national health insurance for the U.S. She has authored more than 50 research articles in major peer-reviewed journals on health care access and financing. She lives with her family in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
